Work Placements and Work Experience

Working with other people and doing your tasks well helps you build your confidence.

You’ll get a taste of what a job or workplace is like, so you can figure out if you’re interested in that kind of career.

Shadowing someone at work to understand what they do and how they do it. It gives you a taste of what a job is like. Work shadowing is usually unpaid and lasts no more than two weeks.

Work Placements for EU students

If you are form an EU country, we can offer you a work placement in Edinburgh.

Work Placements for non-EU students

If you are from outside the EU, you will also be able to do a work placement in the UK, however the conditions will be different.

Work Placements for visa nationals can be undertaken only for students on Tier 4 Visa. To apply for Tier 4 Visa you must have a valid IELTS for UKVI certificate with a minimum score of 4.0 in every part of the test.

Visa nationals must enroll on an English language course as part of the English course/Work Placement programme. Placement must not exceed 33% of the total length of the course. The work placement must be an integral and assessed part of the course.
