CLIL for Teachers
CLIL (Content and language Integrated Learning) is widely recognised as an effective way of improving both language skills and academic performance in the full range of school subjects. Language skills are developed by providing real opportunities for meaningful communication in the classroom. According to the European Commission, CLIL ‘can provide effective opportunities for pupils to use their new language skills now, rather than learn them now for later use’.
In many parts of the world, teachers are being encouraged to adopt CLIL methodology. In Italy in particular, it is being heavily promoted by MIUR (the Ministry of Instruction, Universities and Research). Having knowledge and experience of CLIL is a sure way to enhance a teacher’s career opportunities.
On our one-week course we will explore the theoretical background and, more importantly, look at techniques for applying the methodology to real classroom situations, with learners of different levels and age groups, using content from a range of science, humanities and citizenship subjects. You will experience CLIL lessons delivered by experienced trainers and put your new knowledge into practice through planning, preparing and delivering microteaching sessions. By the end of the course you will be ready to take the internationally-recognised Cambridge TKT: CLIL test.
You can combine the CLIL course with our Communicative Methodology Refresher course to make a two-week package (with a single registration fee).
17th August – 21st August 2020
*Other dates are available on request throughout the year. The course can also be done on a 1 to 1 basis at individual tuition rates
