PON & POR Groups
PON groups at ELA – Great learning experience, combining intensive English practice with fun-filled social activities!
The class is made up of 15 students. The schedule is divided as follows: General English 9-12:30, then Exam Practice 13:30-14:30. Exams taken are Trinity GESE OR Cambridge ESOL suite PET, FCE CAE, or IELTS Preparation. All the teachers are experienced and qualified, with experience in teaching the particular exam that has been chosen for the group. The students take a placement test before arrival, to allow the academic team to choose the best suited materials.
The course is intended to improve General English skills as well as to prepare students for their Cambridge or Trinity examination, focusing on critical grammar skills and vocabulary as well as enhancing test specific capabilities and the ability to achieve the appropriate formal style. Particular attention is dedicated to vocabulary and use of English, aiming at succeeding in all the exam tasks. There will be Friday weekly tests to assess how much of this content was acquired, as well as to test student achievement in varying exam skills (i.e. Speaking and Listening). The group leaders will be give given scans of the materials covered, scans of the weekly test, weekly syllabi and work records (which details all the grammar, vocabulary and skills that will be covered during the respective week) covering the entire duration of their stay at ELA, as well as teacher details for the platform, at the beginning of their first week in the school. This will allow the group leaders to fill in the necessary sections on the platform without needing “to chase” the class teacher. All these documents, as well as a final report, containing details of the course content and a comparison between initial and final student scores, will be provided by the Academic Manager.
Maximum class size: 15
As well as the English language tuition based course, we offer Work Placement services for a duration of 3-4 weeks. Each group’s requirements will be accommodated as mush as possible.
