Family Study Break
Increasingly over the last few years more families have been travelling to Edinburgh and took courses at ELA during the holiday periods. ELA’s flexible listening approach allows families to get the best for both the children and the parents.
While parents study in adult classes, their children can study either one to one, together as a sibling group or join in classes with other juniors where possible.
Some families have simply all studied together with their own assigned teacher! Other parents have taken advantage of the time their children are studying to enjoy each other’s company visiting the many cultural attractions historic Edinburgh has to offer!
Families can join in with our social programme going on excursions at the weekends or dancing traditional Scottish Ceilidh with live bands.
So if you are looking for the perfect family study break, contact our team to discuss your exact needs and we will make sure that is exactly what you get including help with accommodation options if needed.
The children will study in the English classes with the other young learners of similar ages. The lessons will include a lot of activity and games based exercises such as cards & board games. All learning will take place both inside and outside school. The lessons for Young Learners are designed using CLIL – Content Language Integrated Learning, which means the children will learn English through many interesting and exciting topics and subjects. They will not learn any grammar or do many exercises sitting behind the desks, instead they will learn the language through games, quizzes, kids’ movies, museums’ visits etc. In the afternoon the children can get involved in the organised activities (at an additional cost), however, this will depend to on the parents’ daily hours of classes. We would advise all family members to choose the same number of daily hours of tuition or, if parents would like to do intensive studies, sign up the children to supervised afternoon activities.
